This drink is important to me, because for the longest time I’ve loved indulging in a cocktail.  But now that I’m getting older, I just don’t bounce back quickly and it’s not as fun or indulgent as it used to be.  That 15 minutes of relaxation isn’t worth the dehydration that quickly follows.

I wanted a drink that would look nice in my stemless wine glass, look and feel like an indulgent cocktail, but have some health benefits.  Oh, and I didn’t want it to taste sugary or syrup-y like many homemade mocktails often do.

So without further ado let’s discuss this rose mocktail!

    Ingredients

Ingredients needed to make a rose mocktail.

Rose tea - technically I used a rose-hibiscus blend.  You can use any rose, hibiscus, or passionflower blend.  This is the tea that I used.

Honey - just add the honey when you’re brewing your tea.  If you don't want to use honey, any sweetener of your choice will work in its place.

Himalayan salt - for rimming your glass.  Pink salt has loads of health benefits and it looks nice on the glass.  You can feel free to skip this step if you want to.

Lemon juice - freshly squeezed is best! This adds a nice citrus-y kick!

Ginger - many mocktails are missing that bit of bitterness, and I feel that ginger really does the trick here.  Make sure that it’s freshly grated.  Grating it is key, here, otherwise you’ll end up with big chunks of ginger in your drink and that can be awkward to chew on.

Soda water - soda water adds a refreshing sparkle to your drink.  Feel free to use a lemon-flavored soda water or substitute it for ginger beer.

Thyme - for garnish and a bit of herbal flavor.

This is a simple cocktail to make, there’s nothing complicated about this.  You don’t have to make any fancy syrups or do anything crazy.

You simply have to brew your tea with some honey.  I like to use an electric kettle, because I’m a big tea drinker. This is a must in my kitchen.

Add ice to a glass and rim it with himalayan salt.  I also used a few dried rose petals from the tea bag but you certainly don’t have to.

Pour your cooled tea into the glass with the ginger, lemon juice, and soda water.  Give it a gentle stir.

Garnish with a lemon wedge and fresh thyme.  That’s it!
