Ingredients needed to make a Strawberry Mojito Spritz Mocktail

When making mojitos, fresh limes and strawberries are an absolute must! So I highly recommend you grab some fresh mint from the garden and make this insanely good drink.

Let's discuss the ingredients, you will need:

Labeled ingredient photo for the strawberry mojito mint mocktail.
    • Strawberries - fresh strawberries work well but frozen will do! Just be sure to thaw them first. You can thaw them quickly by putting them into a bowl of warm water.
    • Fresh mint leaves - fresh mint leaves are the best! They're so refreshing and delicious paired with fresh fruit and soda water.
    • White sugar - for sweetness.
    • Lime - squeeze a fresh lime, nothing beats a fresh lime!
    • Soda water - use unflavored soda water for the best result, but a strawberry or lime flavored water will also work.

See the recipe card below for exact quantities and details!

    Instructions

The process is pretty simple and it's quick.

Process shot 1: strawberries and mint in a pyrex.

Combine the strawberries, mint leaves, lime juice, and sugar into a bowl.

Process shot 2: Muddled strawberries in a pyrex.

Muddle it together until the strawberries are totally smashed and you are left with a jam-like consistency.

Process shot 3: ice in a glass with a strawberry garnish.

    Fill a glass with ice.

Process shot 4: strained juice in a glass.

It should look a lot like this.

Process shot 4: strawberry jam being strained into a glass.

Strain the strawberry jam mixture into 2 separate glasses.

Process shot: soda water going into a glass with ice and strawberry juice.

Then top each glass with soda water and give it a gentle stir.

    Substitutions

    • Strawberries - fresh strawberries work well but frozen will do! Just be sure to thaw them first. You can thaw them quickly by putting them into a bowl of warm water. You can also swap the strawberries for one cup of blueberries, watermelon, or cantelope and end up with a great mojito spritz mocktail!
    • Fresh mint leaves - fresh mint leaves are the best! They're so refreshing and delicious paired with fresh fruit and soda water. But if you don't have them, basil works, the flavor will be different but strawberries and basil are a match made in heaven!
    • White sugar - for sweetness. You can swap it for 1 tablespoon of honey (for natural sweetness) or brown sugar (for a deeper-caramel-like flavor).
    • Lime - squeeze a fresh lime, nothing beats a fresh lime! Don't swap the lime! BUT you can use bottled lime juice if you want to.
    • Soda water - use unflavored soda water for the best result, but a strawberry or lime flavored water will also work. For a sweeter drink, swap the soda water for Sprite or a lemon-lime flavored soda.

    Variations

This recipe is certainly only meant to be a guide, feel free to adjust it to fit your taste preferences.

    • More flavor - add a dash or two of bitters to give this drink more of an "alcoholic" feel.
    • More Sweetness - replace the soda water with lemon-lime soda.
    • More kick -if you're feeling crazy, replace the soda water with a strawberry-flavored kombucha (like this one).

    Equipment

Mortar and Pestle set - this is a great way to speed up the muddling process. I find that I use this for a variety of things (smashing strawberries, muddling herbs, crushing garlic, etc).

    Storage

You can muddle the strawberry, mint, lime, and sugar ahead of time, strain it, and store it in a mason jar for 24 hours before serving.

Just be sure to open a fresh soda water to pour on top. Because of the carbonation, it's best to open soda water fresh so that it doesn't go flat!

    FAQ

If I don't have fresh mint, will dried mint work?

Yes, but you'll need way less of it and the flavor won't be exactly the same. Instead of using 10 mint leaves, use ½ tsp of dried mint leaves. OR you can swap the mint for fresh basil and still end up with a pretty darn good mocktail!

    Is this a non-alcoholic mocktail?

Yes, this drink is completely alcohol-free. Mocktails do not contain any alcohol, they're safe for everyone (kids, pregnant women, etc.)
