Do you find yourself reaching for a cocktail or glass of wine after work?

Maybe you find that making a drink and having it on the couch is a nice way to switch from the hectic part of the day to the relaxing portion of the evening?

I couldn’t agree more, I think that making and having a relaxing drink is a fantastic way to wind down in the evening.

If you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you know that I quit drinking alcohol (all of it) about 6 months ago. I swapped booze for mocktails and almost all areas of life have greatly improved.

    Including, but not limited to:

    • Sleep
    • Mood (anxiety, patience, etc.)
    • Weight
    • Relationships

This isn’t an exhaustive list, but you get it! Things improve when you’re not dumping ethanol down your throat multiple times a week (even if just on the weekends).

What to drink if you're not drinking?

So, when you’re skipping the booze, what do you drink?

Like me, you might like to drink something sweet, or dry, or something with flavor and nuance.

This is where mocktails come in.

    More specifically, functional mocktails.

All of my mocktails are made with some kind of functional element.  This list contains mocktails that contain various teas, adaptogens, and even kava!

There is nothing difficult or hard to source in any of these mocktails, and I’m sure you’ll love them as much as I do!

    Relaxing Tart Cherry Mocktail

This is truly the ultimate bedtime mocktail! It's relaxing (because it contains tart cherry juice and hibiscus tea), and it's delicious, nuanced, and truly, you won't miss the booze one bit.

Tart Cherry and Chamomile Sleepy Mocktail

Another favorite (and famous on Pinterest!), this mocktail contains chamomile tea and tart cherry juice. It's a great drink to wind down with in the evening. Not only does it taste delicious, it's hydrating and promotes a fabulous night of sleep.

There's a theme here: tart cherry. It contains natural melatonin making it a perfect choice for a bedtime elixir.

    Relaxing Kiwi Mocktail

What makes this mocktail relaxing? The kiwi (a sleep promoting fruit) also with a functional, adaptogenic kiwi tea. You have to give this bedtime moctkail a try!

    Bedtime Beet Mocktail

Beets can be somewhat controversial, because they have a very...earthy...flavor profile. However, in this mocktail, they're delicious! It's full of iron and sleep-promoting properties. Give this drink a try!

    Blood Orange Hibiscus Mocktail

Blood Orange Hibiscus Mocktail with limes and orange garnish.

Plenty of nuanced flavors in this drink! It's flavorful, caffeine-free, and tastes like a margarita. It's the perfect bedtime treat with functional relaxing ingredients.

    Mango Mocktail

Mango mocktail with a lime wedge garnish.

Consuming mangos before bed promotes a peaceful sleep because they promote the production of melatonin. Not only is this mango mocktail sweet and delicious, but it's functional, too!

    Orange Passion Mocktail

Passion tea is one of my favorites. To save some time, buy it premade! Combined with some fresh orange juice, it's tasty and relaxing.

    Kava Mocktail

Kava mocktail in a low ball glass with maraschino cherries.

This kava tea mocktail is relaxing and easy to make! It's a great evening drink and the flavor will remind you of an old fashioned.

    Pomegranate Ginger Beer Mocktail

Pomegranate ginger beer mocktail with rosemary.

This drink is super tasty and full of antioxidants. It looks pretty in the glass and it's fun to sip on whether you're relaxing on the couch or making dinner.

    Orange Cream Soda Mocktail

This drink is hydrating and delicious. No toxic or bad ingredients, here. I love orange juice before bed because it's hydrating and with the addition of heavy cream, it's slightly filling and relaxing.

    Green Tea Mocktail

Green tea mocktail with star anise garnish.

Green tea, while it does contain caffeine, its relaxing because it contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and stress relief.

    Margarita Mocktail

Margarita mocktail in a glass with a gold rim.

If you want something sweet and slightly indulgent, this is the drink for you. It tastes just like a margarita minus the booze!
