Guys this Chick-fil-A Copycat recipe for their Garden Herb Ranch Dressing is one that you need to try, and possibly have on hand *at all times*.
Not only is it great for salads, obviously, but it’s also great for dipping your pizza crust into, and of course, vegetables, too!

I love Chick-fil-A and their salad dressings. If you have tried my recipes for their Zesty Apple Cider Vinaigrette, Polynesian Sauce, Honey Mustard, Zesty Buffalo, or Creamy Salsa yet–well, what are you waiting for! RUN TO THE KITCHEN!
Just kidding, but definitely add them to your Pinterest boards for later! Because they’re all great and you’ll make them on repeat, like I do.
There’s nothing better than fresh, homemade dressing for not only veggies, but they work as marinades, sandwich sauces, and dips as well.
Ingredients + substitutions
Let’s get to the recipe, you’ll need:
- Mayo - after living in NC for years, I’m sorry but Duke’s mayo is the only acceptable brand of mayo to have on hand at all times. But you can certainly use any mayo that you want/like/have. But if it’s not Dukes…I’m strongly suggesting you give it a try. Even if you’re a Hellman’s brand loyalist.
- Sour cream - I like using full fat because, this is a dressing, you want it to be super flavorful. But you can use any brand or a fat-free/light version.
- Dill - fresh dill really gives it that “ranch” flavor. You can use fresh parsley, as well. Also feel free to swap the fresh herbs altogether for ¼ tsp dried dill.
- Milk - whole or 2% is best.
- Lemon juice - fresh lemon juice is a great choice but you can sub this for white vinegar or apple cider vinegar. I’ve tried both and they both work without messing with the flavor!
- Carrot - if you’ve never grated a carrot and put it into your salad dressing, you really need to try and don’t skip this step. It adds that “garden” flavor and the sweetness of the carrot is delicious in ranch dressing.
- Spices - garlic powder. Onion powder. Paprika (trust me). Black pepper. And a little pinch of kosher salt.
Again, I am not exaggerating when I say this is the absolute best ranch dressing on the plant. And it tastes a little better than the stuff at CFA, if we’re being totally honest. Maybe it’s the lack of preservatives or the fact that you made it at home with love?
Either way, it’s so good, I cannot wait to hear your thoughts, please leave a review below so that I can see your dressing and how you’re using it!
How to make it (+TikTok Video)
Making this dressing is pretty simple. The most difficult part is simply grating that carrot, I know it’s kind of a pain, but this step is worth it and I’d like for you not to skip it! Although, you could...and nothing bad would happen lol.
Simply combine all of your ingredients in a mason jar, and whisk/stir/shake everything together.
Screw the lid on. Then put it into the fridge or use it right away!
How long does it last? Storage FAQ
Assuming the ingredients you’re using aren’t about to expire, this dressing will last for a week in a tight container in the fridge. Use your best judgment, I don’t usually keep it much longer than a week (just to be on the absolute safest side).
