Flank steak with peanut sauce is one of those dinners that feels special but comes together without a ton of effort. The juicy steak and creamy, flavorful sauce make the kind of combo that, trust me, you'll want to make again and again!

I don’t know about you, but coming up with fun, new dinner ideas that the entire family might enjoy is a stressful process.  We typically resort to chicken or pasta, and well, when you’ve had enough of both, you need something else to break up the dinner rotation.

That’s where this awesome Thai-inspired recipe comes in! It's a perfectly-seared flank steak drizzled with creamy peanut sauce.   Serve it with coconut rice and a grilled veggie and this is a perfect, impressive dinner that (just might) please everyone.

How to make Thai-style peanut sauce

This peanut sauce really is the star of the show. I don't get takeout a lot, but if I did, I'd be getting peanut-sauce-anyting every single time!

So let's talk about this sauce real quick. Essentially it's just a mixture of creamy peanut butter, soy sauce, honey, fresh lime juice, sesame oil, and some fresh grated ginger.

Note: if you're using dry ground ginger, use ½ teaspoon or less to taste.

After you've made the sauce, use cold water to thin it out to a pourable consistency.

    The process

Make this recipe is super easy, it takes about 40 minutes, but if you're really quick or want to skip some of the marinade time, it can be ready in under 30.

Simply make the peanut sauce, thin it out, and use a tablespoon or two to marinate the flank steak with. Set the rest aside.

Then sear the steak in a cast iron, slice it against the grain (so that it isn't chewy), and then serve it with the peanut sauce and some toppings such as lime wedges, cilantro, and green onions.

    • 2 tbsp honey
    • 1 tbsp sesame oil
    • 1 tsp fresh ginger if you're using dry ground ginger, use ½ tsp or less

    • Add oil to a large cast iron pan over medium-high heat, then sear the flank steak on each side for 3-5 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches about 135 degrees F. Remove it from the pan and tent with foil for about 5-10 minutes.
