This Black Bean Dorito Taco Salad is DELICIOUS, and perfect for when you don’t want to use your stove or do any real cooking, but want all the taco flavors! Taco Tuesday has never tasted so good!

Hellooooooo taco fans! I’m a taco fan and I’m always looking for new combinations of ingredients and dressings to put on those ingredients. This one is a slam-dunk of a combination, it’s crunchy, delicious, and just tastes like everything you want in a taco salad!
If you’re a fan of my Creamy Salsa Dressing, Chicken Fajita Taco Salad, or my Virgin Margarita, you’re going to fall-in-LOVE with this recipe!
I'm loving this black bean and Dorito taco salad combo because:
- It requires absolutely no cooking, whatsoever. Making it perfect for hot evenings in the summer (and who has time to cook when there’s swimming to do).
- The flavors are taco-licious: it has all the classic taco flavors, it’s perfect.
- It has Doritos - and we all know those are tasty chips!
- Makes a great walking taco - just serve these ingredients with mini Dorito bags and you have a vegetarian lunch you can eat poolside!
Ingredients + substitutions
- Romaine lettuce - washed and chopped, you can swap it for any lettuce you have. Iceberg is a good choice, buttercrunch is too. I don’t think arugula is a suitable swap but you can certainly use it, too!
- Black beans - a whole can, drained and rinsed. You can swap the black beans for pinto!
- Cherry tomatoes - or use whatever tomato you have, just dice it up!
- Doritos - crush them up! Classic or cool ranch are the best flavors, but you can use hot Doritos too if you like things *spicy*!
- Cheddar cheese - shredded. I used pre-shredded ones to keep things easy.
- Red onion - for some color and crunch. Red cabbage would also be nice to add a little color, or go ahead and use both!
- Jalapeno - for just a little spice. If you’re not a fan of spice, leave this out, or swap it with red or green bell pepper instead.
- Cilantro - for flavor! If you’re not a cilantro fan, leave it out!
For the dressing just whisk together: sour cream, salsa, lime juice, red wine vinegar, chili powder and cumin. Serve it on the side!
How do you make a Black Bean + Dorito Taco Salad?
The process is easy! To start: simply combine all of the salad ingredients in a bowl.
Then give everything a good toss. And serve with dressing on the side!

- 2 tbsp salsa
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- 2 cups romaine lettuce
- 1 15 oz can black beans drained and rinsed
- ½ cup cherry tomatoes halved
- ½ cup Doritos crushed
- ¼ cup cheddar cheese shredded
- ¼ cup red onion diced
- ½ jalapeno seeds removed + diced
- 2 tbsp cilantro chopped
Instructions
- Make the dressing by whisking together: sour cream, salsa, lime juice, red wine vinegar, chili powder and cumin until it’s combined.
- Add all of the salad ingredients to a bowl: lettuce, black beans, cherry tomatoes, Doritos, cheddar cheese, red onion, jalapeno, and cilantro. Give everything a good toss.
- Serve with the dressing on the side!
