Steak in the air fryer is up for hot debate: you *should* do it! You should *never* do it!

Well, you can do it, and I’ll be the first to admit it’s probably not objectively *the best way* to cook steak.  However, I'll argue any day that it’s the best way to cook steak if you’re pressed for time, kitchen space, staying in a hotel, or RV’ing.

Here’s why: air fryers are awesome.  Essentially an air fryer is just an amped up countertop oven.  It’s not actually frying anything, just cooking quickly with high heat.  It’s not a microwave.  Air fryers are easy to clean and even kitchen minimalists love them. If you don’t have one, get one!

This (Ninja Max XL)  is the Air Fryer I have been using for years, and I still love it.

Why should you make air fryer sirloin steak?

Well, it’s very quick, very delicious, and requires just a handful of ingredients.

The thing is, steak in the air fryer will never be a steak cooked outdoors.  But sometimes, it’s cold outside, it’s raining, you love your air fryer so much that you just want to cook everything in it (hi!), and you’re pressed for time.

Whatever the reasons, this steak is going to come out perfectly cooked and, in a blind test, I don’t think any honest person would say that air fryer sirloin steak isn’t *almost just as good* as the grilled version.

What ingredients do I need to make sirloin steak in the air fryer?

    labeled ingredients

Just a few and you can tweak this as you need to:

    • Top sirloin steaks
    • Melted butter
    • Kosher or sea salt + pepper
    • Brown sugar
    • And some spices!

What steps do I take to make steak in the air fryer?

First, you’ll start by preheating your air fryer to 400 degrees F.

Then, you're going to press the spices into the steak.

After that, air fry the steak for about 5 minutes on each side.

After that, drizzle with melted butter. Let them rest for 1-2 minutes!

That’s it! It’s so simple that this might become your preferred cooking method!
