Jump to:
Sometimes, you just want something quick and easy on a busy weeknight. That’s where these Air Fryer Alexia Onion Rings come in! In under 10 minutes you can have these on the table with some burgers, sandwiches, or chicken nuggets (or perhaps with these Buffalo Chicken Thighs).
Ingredients + substitutions
- Alexia Crispy Onion Rings - you can find these at any major grocery store. Alexia is the best brand for convenience foods, IMO. Any package of frozen onion rings will work with this recipe, though!
- Olive oil - for coating the onion rings and adding additional flavor and crispiness. You can swap this for any neutral tasting oil or just use a spritz of cooking spray.
- Spices - garlic powder, oregano, chili powder, cumin, and onion powder. You can adjust these spices to your liking and experiment as you wish!
Step-by-step instructions
- In a small bowl or pyrex, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, chili powder, cumin, and onion powder. Whisk it until combined.
- Toss that mixture with the frozen onion rings.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit on the AIR FRY setting. Let it preheat.
- Layer the onion rings in a single layer at the bottom of the air fryer basket (you may have to work in batches).
- Air fry for 7-8 minutes, flipping halfway through (just shake the basket).
Variations
If you want to avoid additional work, you can skip the olive oil and extra seasonings step and simply place the onion rings into the air fryer in a single layer and spritz them with some cooking spray.
Then follow the cooking directions outlined in the recipe below.
Recipe notes
Air fryer onion rings are best eaten immediately, but if you want to save them, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat them in a preheated air fryer on the AIR FRY setting at 250 degrees F, for 1-2 minutes.
FAQs
Are Alexia onion rings a better option?
This will depend on various factors but out of all the packaged onion rings at the grocery store Alexia Onion Rings stand out as one of the cleanest options on the market. Additionally, cooking them in the air fryer requires far less oil (as they are not deep fried), and therefore would be a better option if you are health conscious.
How long do you cook frozen Alexia onion rings in the air fryer?
7-8 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit on the AIR FRY setting should do the trick. Just be sure to flip them halfway through and work in batches (the onion rings shouldn’t be piled on top of each other).
What sauces to serve with Alexia Onion Rings?
My favorite sauce to serve with onion rings is definitely this Spicy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce. But any of these sauces would be a fantastic choice:
