Ingredients

  • ½ cup pistachios peeled
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water filtered
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 1 tbsp boiling water preferably from a tea kettle to make things easy
  • ¾ cup milk of your choice
  • ¼ cup milk for frothing
  • 1 tsp chocolate syrup

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the peeled pistachios, brown sugar, and filtered water. Bring it to a simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove it from the heat and allow it to cool off a bit.
  • Now, you can simply drain the mixture and discard the pistachios and you’ll have a nice, traditional pistachio syrup. However, if you like a lot of pistachio flavor, you can make it into a thick butter by blending it in the blender. From there you can either remove the bumps by pushing it through a strainer or skip that step and just use the butter as it is.
  • Next mix the matcha with boiling water and whisk it until it’s smooth.
  • Fill a glass with ice, pour the matcha mixture over the ice.
  • Add the pistachio paste or an equal amount of syrup depending on your preference.
  • Add your milk of choice and give it a gentle stir.
  • Froth together your milk of choice and 1 tsp of chocolate syrup. Add it to the top of the drink.
  • Drizzle a bit of chocolate syrup on top for garnish if you wish.
